Bicycles, Cycling Kits and Gear

Oakland's and my favorite bike shop. The friendly and highly-skilled mechanics are eager to get you in the saddle whether you're a novice rider or a veteran triathlete and all bikes purchased at Tip Top Bike Shop receive a lifetime of FREE adjustments! Now, how good is that?!

I purchased my first road bike from them and I would gladly buy my next one from them. I also bought my first kit (jersey, bib, socks, arm and leg warmers) and cleats.

Bike Fit

Pedro offers a professional custom bike fitting that maximized my riding, while conserving energy.

He believes that a professional bike fit is not just about getting a speed performance. It’s not just for elite/pro triathletes and cyclists. It is for everyone who rides a bike to commute or to race on. It can help improve comfort, reduce the risk of future injuries, increase bike handling ability and most important increase safety. All of which can be more relevant to those new to cycling, or with limited knowledge.

Pedro uses several bike fitting methodologies and can help achieve your personal optimal position on your road bike, tri bike, and mountain bike.

Andrew Weber of Bike Fit is a professional cyclist who is just a great person all around and makes house calls. He brought saddles, stems, and just about everything needed to give me just the right bike fit. If Andrew didn't have the item required to make my fit ideal, he had it ordered and sent to my home. He came back a few more times to fine-tune the adjustment and it's been almost two years since the fit. I trust him so much that I introduced him to the AIDS/LifeCycle community and I know at least five more cyclists have called Andrew. He's even been called the Bike Whisperer.

For new and experienced cyclists, Andrew is gem and will make sure you have the bike fit that helps you enjoy cycling. He has come to early morning training rides to make adjustments for his clients -- that, my friends, is a true testament of his dedication for his services and craft. On a 5-star scale, I'd give him 6 stars.

Camp Gear

In my life, I walked into an REI store maybe twice. Since AIDS/LifeCycle, I've been to REI stores in Berkeley, San Francisco and online at least once a week. The bulk of my camp gear has come from REI garage sales, online specials and sales.

Other items were purchased from Sports Basement, Amazon.com and Craigslist.
