Support from Steve Disselhorst - Thanks so much!

Thank you so much, Steve Disselhorst, for your support for AIDS/LifeCycle . John and I have seen Steve over many years, but never got the chance to meet. We finally got the chance at an HRC event. And, what a delight. We also learned that he is Co-Chair, Board of Directors of Our Family Coalition.

For over 20 years, Our Family Coalition has proudly provided support to the LGBT community through family support trainings, workshops, and community-building events; trainings for K-8 teachers and school staff to reduce anti-LGBT and racial bias in schools; trained and supported teachers in creating LGBT-inclusive education curricula and best practices for classroom implementation of inclusive education; and participation in policy campaigns to protect and strengthen civil rights in areas critical to LGBT-led families. Please consider visiting the organization to see if you would like to support them: https://www.ourfamily.org.

AIDS/LifeCycle Mark’s Orinda Loop

. Distance Pt 1 11.6 / Pt 2 38.2 miles
. Elevation Pt 1 489 ft / Pt 2 2,749 ft
. Avg speed Pt 1 15.4 mi/h Pt 2 12.4 mi/h
. Calories 2,996
.
As you can see, I had technical difficulties with recording my third training ride. First of all, I did not want to get up and train. BUT, do those who NEED the resources from San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Los Angeles LGBT Center don’t have luxury of not wanting to? So I dressed in layers and had a fantastic time seeing those I haven’t seen in awhile, welcoming newbies, and meeting new riders.
.
Thank you, Mark, for my third #aidslifecycle training ride for 2019. I appreciate you, George H., Sese, and Connor (warm-up leader), & Jan for volunteering as our Training Ride Leaders (TRLs) keeping us safe and motivated.
.
The route took us from Orinda BART to Moraga (St. Mary’s) to Reliz Valley Road with so many stop signs to Martinez for our first rest stop. Then back towards Orinda through beautiful Carquinez (with birds auditioning for the remake of Hitchcock’s “The Birds” to Pinole for lunch to Castro Ranch Rd. for more climbing. Then left on San Pablo Damn Road for, guess what, more climbing and finally back to Orinda BART.
.
Yes, training is required to get us ready for the 7-day, 545-mile adventure.
.
My family and friends already know that I don’t just do this for fun, to wear spandex, be silly or look silly in cycling gear, be tired and have sore legs. We are all committed to help #endHIVAIDS. I will continue to raise funds to combat this disease until we reach the day that no one has to anymore.
.
Less than 98 days 😉 until we ride out from the Cow Palace to ride from #SanFrancisco to #LosAngeles for 7 days and over 545 miles to help #EndHivAids.
